Kingsbluff Vacation Villa Rental in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands

Kingsbluff - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1) How close are you to the beach? We are within walking distance to Magen's Bay Beach; however, it is a pretty good walk and you will be winded once you arrive at the beach. It is about 4 or 5 minutes by car and you will drive past Magen's Beach on the way to the property.

2) I don't see Air Conditioners on your website - Is the property Air Conditioned? Yes, we have installed air conditioners in each of the bedrooms. Although we have lived for 8 years without them and have been very happy, many guests are accustomed to having Air Conditioners and our return guests have been requesting them. They are furnished as additional luxury items that you may use during your stay!

2) Should I rent a car or do you think taking taxi cabs would be OK? That all depends on what you plan to accomplish during your stay. Some people just want to get away and will stay either at the house or Magen's Beach. Others, will adventure daily to St. John, East End, St. Thomas beaches, shopping, etc. If so, you can expect rates of about $5 to $7 per person each way. That means a party of 12 would pay around $60 to $84 each way each time they want to go somewhere. This usually restricts what you do and that is not why you came. Rental cars range from about $175 - $250 per week, and I think are well worth it.

3) If I rent a car and plan to meet you at the house, how do I get there? You can visit our information page and print this and take it with you for your visit. It has directions to the house, as well as important list of local telephone numbers, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

4) Can you arrange to have somebody meet us at the airport? Yes, we can have one of our on-Island managers meet you at the airport and help you get started from there. Then you can follow them in a rental car or take a taxi cab. However, please do not plan on our staff driving you to the Villa as most of their cars are small compact cars.

5) Parking driveway or street? Parking at the house is a drive way just off the street. This is common in the Virgin Islands because of lack of space and the Mountainous terrain. Our driveway can accommodate approximately 7 vehicles.

6) More information about packages? Again, it depends on what you want to do. We can help you arrange a half day or full day snorkeling trip on a beautiful catamaran, or take a day and get in some of the greatest sport fishing in the World with record Blue Marlin, or a day, week or more on a luxury yacht.

7) My group is looking at about 1 week to 10 days. Can you book that way or do you have to book for the entire week? We can accommodate custom times and number of days, however, it depends on availability and we pro rate the amounts using the weekly rate, divided by 6 nights, and multiplied by the number of nights you wish to stay.

8) Any utilities or security deposits? Yes, generally we require a $1,000 damage and security deposit, which shall be refunded within 45 days of your departure provided the house is left in satisfactory condition and all items inventoried when you arrived are there when you leave.

9) How many people can sleep in the house (I know there are 6 bedrooms with one small one)? There are 6 bedrooms, all with full baths but one. Each room has 2 twin beds pushed together to make King size beds. They can easily be spread apart and made to accommodate kids and children. A total of 12 guests are allowed sleeping quarters on the property.

10) What is a good website for restaurants in the area? We are working with another Company and will soon have a website up for the Virgin Islands and each of it's Islands. These sites will have hot spots, activities, restaurants, etc., and shall be launched shortly.

11) Bathrooms, each rooms has its own right? Yes, each room has it's own bathroom with one of them only a half bath, and there is a public bath downstairs in the Great Room.

12) What are the garden showers? The garden shower is a rock structure built into the gardens to use when you arrive from a day at the beach to rinse off, or when you have been out in the Sun or playing in the pool for the day and need a rinse.

13) There is a photo that says "house prior to renovation", it looks like the inside has been nicely done. So has the outside of the house also been renovated? Yes, the entire house was renovated for a period of three years, inside and out. It is now painted on the exterior of the house, as well as the decks, and roof. The decks and staircases in front and back are all new as well. A new picture of the exterior will be shot from a helicopter during the summer of 2002 and will be posted immediately thereafter.

14) Do you suggest visiting St. John or Croix while in St. Thomas? One of my favorite places in the Virgin Islands is St. John. A day excursion to St. John on a Ferry to this quiet Island is something you don't want to miss. A lazy day strolling through the wonderful shops with local crafts and outstanding restaurants. You definitely want to check out the beaches on this Island that is comprised mostly of national parks.

15) There are no hidden costs, I'm sure everything is in the contract? Just like a hotel room, you get a great place to stay with large open spaces, privacy you won't get in a hotel room, and a view that you have to yourself. We don't pay for your flight and we don't provide food or liquor, unless you contract with a private chef, but that is another story. Don't forget that everybody in St. Thomas charges an 8% hotel tax during your stay.

16) Okay, so I have decided I want to book a week, what's next? If you have decided on the week you would like, email me to verify it is available. If so, then print out the contract and fax per instructions. Once I have received 50% of your rental amount, I will confirm booking by faxing a signed contract back to you.

17) Your website says you have a pool. How big is it and is it safe? The pool has 2 sections to it. One section is about 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet deep. It breaks off into the larger section that is between 10 feet and 11 feet deep. Children should always be supervised when in the pool or about the property.
